KEITH’S KULL

It’s Wednesday, September 2.  The weather is great and promises to be for the rest of the week.  The Stark County Fair is off to a great start and from what I have heard from those who have worked our booth at the fair things are going very well there as well.  I am looking forward to working the booth this afternoon.  Which brings me to what I want to share with you today? The success of our merger depends upon our ability to bring people together in service to the Lord.  I am noticing several areas where the attitude and cooperation necessary are being displayed and I want to take this space to thank those involved.First, I have seen it in those who joined together on the “BEARS OF LOVE” Ministry.  Ladies and men from both congregations got together once it was determined to use the “Bears” at the fair and cut, stuffed and sewed 1665 Bears, in less than one month.  Nelda Anderson, our resident “Bear” expert directed this effort.  Nelda and I both want to thank the 30 members of both congregations who came together as one to get this job done.  Space prevents me from mentioning the names of all those involved, but I want you to know that we are truly grateful for you and your hard work.  By the way, during this same period of time over 200 additional “Bears” were used by Aultman Hospital in their “Teddy Bear Clinics”.  Again, I’ve heard that the “Bears” are a big hit at the fair.Second, I want to also commend those who have been attending our “Senior Saints” ministry.  Recently we held our annual banquet with 71 in attendance.  The weekly meetings have been well attended as well.  At this time we have decided to continue to meet weekly on Tuesday at 10:30 AM.  (There are times that we meet earlier in order to travel to a point of interest or restaurant.)  Generally we will have Bible Study and prepared meals on two Tuesdays a month and travel to a restaurant or activity on the other two Tuesdays.  At this point the meetings are taking place at the Market Avenue campus, but all meetings will be moved to the 38th Street campus in October.  On September 22 we are planning an outing at Atwood Lake.  We will leave the Market Avenue campus at 10:00 AM and have lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant on the lake at 11:00.  After our meal we will enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the lake.  Cost of the boat ride is $2.00 per person.   I want to thank Randy Dingler and Wilda McCullough for making the arrangements for this outing.  A schedule of the Senior Saints activities is available outside my office door at 38th Street.  Finally, I want to mention our Angel Food Ministry.  Brochures explaining Angel Food are available in the foyers of both buildings.  Distribution in September will take place on Saturday, September 19 at 10:00-11:30 AM at the 38th Street Campus.  We need people to help with this ministry.  Those who would like to help should to be at the building at 9:00 AM and be there until noon.  Please see Donna Gessel or myself if interested.  If you are interested in ordering food please note the dates and times we will be taking orders in the brochure or see Marilyn Hopkins after services to place an order.

Have a great week!
