LIFE LINES
As we prepare to move into the month of September, we are implementing the second stage of the process of merging the former 38th Street and Market Avenue congregations into the new Northwest Church of Christ. Our Sunday evening worship services have been combined since the end of June, and we anticipate all of our worship assembles and Bible study classes to be fully integrated by the start of October. That means combining our Wednesday evening classes as well, and that’s what we will do in the month of September.
For the teenagers and adults, September 2nd will be an evening of singing in the auditorium. The children’s classes (pre-school through 6th grade) will meet as they always do. Staff members from both former congregations are ready to take charge of these classes, and I want to thank John R. Oberlin, as the deacon overseeing the education ministry at present, for his efforts in seeing that all is prepared for uniting on Wednesdays.
Then, on September 9th, the new teen and adult classes will meet for the first time. There again, the goal has been to integrate staff members from both former congregations into teaching these classes each week. The list of classes for adults, and their locations, is below, along with the topic to be studied, if known. The desire of the Northwest leadership, as always, is that as many as possible be a part of the classes offered on both Sundays and Wednesdays. We have competent, dedicated teachers and Bible-based studies for everyone to enjoy and from which to benefit. As you can see from the listing, not only will we have a class specifically for ladies but, now, also one for men, as they have had at Market Avenue in their Wednesday evening selections.
If you haven’t been attending a class on Wednesday evenings, this would be a wonderful opportunity to start doing so. Those who have been part of a Wednesday class are encouraged to continue to attend as we start the combined classes for teens and adults on September 9th. Come this week to sing and fellowship with one another as we enter this fall season.
Have a great day, and week, and God bless.
