LIFE LINES

STARK COUNTY FAIR

The Northwest Church of Christ has leased a booth at the fair for 2009.  The dates for the Fair are September 1-7 2009.  We are looking for volunteers to man the booth Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
You DO NOT have to work all day; you can sign up for some portion of the day/days but please no less than 3 or 4 hours at a time.  Work Passes will be provided.
The purpose of the booth is to meet people and share information about the Northwest Church of Christ, and invite people study God’s word with us, NOT to conduct studies on the Fairgrounds.
We will have a nice display of free materials and some special items to share with folks who exhibit interest in the church.  There will also be a sign up sheet for home Bible studies and correspondence courses.
This is a great time to promote the Lord’s church here in Canton and for us to make contacts for studies.
We MUST have our booth manned by a minimum of 2 people during these hours.  You may work in a team or as a family.  Appropriate dress will be required (no shorts).  Also, we must have at least 1 person 18 years old or above in the booth at all times.  Due to restrictions by the Fair board, the leadership of NWCOC retains the right to decide who will work the Booth.
                                                          This is OUR Fair booth.
We want everyone who desires, to spend time greeting and inviting others to worship and Bible study.  It is our hope that many will work in the booth and that we can make many new contacts for the kingdom in this way.
If you have any questions please see Brian Heid, Patrick Shepler, John J. Oberlin, Harry Rose, Jim Ladson, Bill Craddock or Earl Ash.

There is a signup sheet posted on the East wing bulletin board for those who are willing to work.

Does Attending Make A Difference?

How many times have you attended a worship service? How many times have you attended when you felt more like staying home? Have you ever wondered if there might be a different way to approach worship than to file in to the church building three times a week, week after week?
A lot of congregations have experimented with alternative approaches to worship and Bible study. Some no longer meet on Sunday and Wednesday nights while others meet in homes of members on those evenings. It is interesting to note that most of these have gone back to the old routine or wish they could.
The simple truth is that the assemblies should be a vital part of our Christian development and the more we attend, the more we should develop.
It is only natural for us to be tired and draggy from time to time as we walk through the door of the church building. Our schedules at home and on the job are tough. But if we have the right frame of mind and the leaders have planned for the assemblies to provide a careful, continuing examination of Bible truths, it will make a difference and we’ll be the better for it, week after week after week.
